The Mã Pì Lèng Pass, also known as Mả Pí Lèng or Mã Pỉ Lèng (meaning "horse's nose"), is honored as the king of mountain passes in the northern mountainous region. This is a treacherous mountain pass stretching approximately 20km, located in Pả Vi and Pải Lủng communes, Mèo Vạc district, and Tả Lủng commune, Đồng Văn district.
With an elevation of 1,200 meters, the peak of Mã Pì Lèng belongs to the Dong Van Karst Plateau, along the Happiness Road, connecting the city of Ha Giang with the districts of Dong Van and Meo Vac. September is captivating with the ripe rice season in Hoàng Su Phì, and November to December is the season of buckwheat flowers.
